a) A router passes information from network to another keeping the traffic separate (control traffic)

b) WIFI and Bluetooth - transferring data between devices without the need for a physical connection or wiring

WIFI is faster than bluetooth so bluetooth is used by mobile devices to transfer smaller files

Differences:

Bluetooth is only between two devices through agreement

Bluetooth creates its own network

c) To set up a network you need to have an isp, router and a browser

d) advantages-communication, transfer of files, resources, share storage, common (all similar)

disadvantages-virus', malware, hackers, loss of resource, loss of connection

e) id's and passwords are used to divide personal files by accounts, authorize different access

home directory=personal area of network

f) fax is hard copy
not secure

email: blind copy, carbon copy

tele/video conferencing is multiple people
saving money, travel
showing material (video)

g) local area network is a network on one site
wide area network is two LAN permanetly linked


h) to create a LAN you need switches, hubs and bridges
to create a wireless LAN you need a wireless access point thats linked to the LAN
to create a wan you need a router on either end and you also need an external internet line

i) intranet is for providing services inside your business
internet is for offering services to the whole world, sharing information and for advertising

j) HUB is multi broadcasting
Bridges are used to organise the LAN to router and maximise the sending of a signal
Switch replaced HUBs. A switch is intelligent and it manages the traffic going through it

k) company's must have a policy of confidentiality
hacking means a firewall, legal gurantee of security
